A little visit of Mei Line’s showroom nestled in an ancient building of Santiago\u2019s Barrio Brazil, through our pictures and others taken from various publications in decoration as well as fashion and lifestyle magazines. The property consists in a terraced house build in 1913 in adobe with an internal wood structure, that allowed this venerable building to withstand the terrible 2010 earthquake that saw numerous disaster in this broadly adobe constructed neighbourhood. This shows that adobe and wood constructions are sound earthquake resistant building provided they are properly maintained to avoid the damaging effects of water on the water sensitive adobe. <\/span><\/p>\n

The living room<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The access to the patio is warmed up by a fireplace; its original red brick work has been dressed with polished concrete to visually integrate it with the wood paneling and the cement floor tiles surrounded by a recycled doorframe.<\/p>\n

En el estar junto al patio, la chimenea era antiguamente de ladrillos a vista, el revestimiento actual de hormig\u00f3n pulido, m\u00e1s suave visualmente,  se armoniza con el entablado de madera original y las baldosas de cementos enmarcadas con un cubre junta reciclado.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le d\u00e9crochement du couloir \u00e0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e du patio est agr\u00e9ment\u00e9 d\u2019une chemin\u00e9e. Anciennement en briques rouges sans charme, elle s\u2019int\u00e8gre maintenant harmonieusement aux boiseries d\u2019origine gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son habillement de b\u00e9ton cir\u00e9 et ses carreaux de ciment encadr\u00e9s par un couvre joint recycl\u00e9.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Patio:<\/strong><\/p>\n

 The terrace running along the house was closed up by a conservatory wall a few years after the house\u2019s construction: many of the windows have kept their irregular glass panels, giving a special charm to the light reflection in the patio, which serves as a showroom for the outdoor furniture  design MB.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n
Originalmente esta casa, ten\u00eda un plano en forma de L, con dos piezas en la parte delantera formando la fachada continua hacia la calle, y varias piezas sigui\u00e9ndose hacia atr\u00e1s; comunic\u00e1ndose entre ellas y hacia el exterior, una galer\u00eda un\u00eda las diferentes partes de la casa. En una segunda etapa, la galer\u00eda se cerr\u00f3 con una serie de ventanales  formando un patio interior. Finalmente se ampli\u00f3 la parte trasera de la casa al construir una \u00faltima pieza rodeando el patio. Los ventanales  conservan muchos vidrios originales con esa leve distorsi\u00f3n de la imagen y de la luz, dando a ese lugar un encanto muy especial. En los primeros tiempos conservamos la tina con patas de le\u00f3n original de la casa, se hizo refrigerador cuando la llenamos de hielo para enfriar el Champagne en la noche de la inauguraci\u00f3n! Ahora la tina esta en bodega liberando espacio para la <\/span>l\u00ednea de mobiliario de exterior MB<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Le couloir longeant les pi\u00e8ces en enfilade \u00e9tait \u00e0 l\u2019origine une terrasse, celle-ci fut int\u00e9gr\u00e9e dans la maison par la construction d\u2019une v\u00e9randa, cr\u00e9ant un patio int\u00e9rieur. Nombre de vitres sont d\u2019origine, avec leurs irr\u00e9gularit\u00e9s elles donnent un charme bien particulier \u00e0 cet endroit. Le patio est meubl\u00e9 d\u2019un m\u00e9lange de trouvailles vintage et de mobilier d\u2019ext\u00e9rieur de design MB.<\/span><\/div>\n

Las cinco piezas nos permiten exhibir los muebles tal como en casa, con comedor, living y habitaciones para poder imaginar c\u00f3mo quedaran los muebles en su casa. Las puertas originales con sus vidrios y contraventanas han sido cuidadosamente restauradas.<\/span><\/div>\n
Les cinq pi\u00e8ces du showroom nous permettent de pr\u00e9senter le mobilier \u201ccomme a la maison\u201d. Les portes d\u2019origine avec leurs panneaux vitr\u00e9s avec des volets int\u00e9rieurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9s soigneusement restaur\u00e9es, jusqu\u2019aux serrures Fran\u00e7aises !<\/span><\/div>\n
The five rooms, allow us to show the furniture as in a home. The original doors with windowpanes and shutters have been carefully restored.<\/span><\/div>\n

Un mueble manufacturado con madera reciclada y una antigua cubierta de m\u00e1rmol, da el tono a la ambientaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como las baldosas de cementos, los apliques de l\u00e1grimas y los espejos antiguos.<\/span><\/div>\n
Le meuble-vasque recyclant boiseries et plateau de marbre, les carreaux de ciment, les appliques anciennes ainsi que les miroirs chin\u00e9s donnent le ton a la d\u00e9co de la salle de bain.<\/span><\/div>\n
