The \u00ab\u00a0Rencontres\u00a0\u00bb d’Arles photographie run since 1970. They showcase famous or yet unknown photographers in different parts of taown, mainly historic buildings: desacralised churches, cloister, abandoned industrial sites sometimes only open their doors to this manifestation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This years \u00ab\u00a0Rencontres\u00a0\u00bb were (mainly) black and white. Amongst the wide offer that I had the chance to visualise, stood out Alfredo Jaar<\/a> and Sergio Larrain’s<\/a> exhibitions, two Chilean photographs (not just to be chauvinistic). Both extremely moving and committed to reveal injustices and pain.<\/p>\n

Alfredo Jaar: \u00ab\u00a0La politique des images\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>, by questioning the way medias show us what they feel is important, and what they think might interest the biggest number, just leaves you with a feeling of unbearable injustice, I am still recovering from that one..<\/p>\n

Sergio Larrain’s Retrospective<\/a> gives us to see his particularly beautiful series on the children of the streets of Santiago, and portraits of Valparaiso’s bar crowd, and people of Peru and Bolivia.\u00a0\"IMG_1103\"<\/a><\/p>\n
