My pic of the pics… Ceramiste Cecile Gasc, my favourite stand, I bought my favourite coffee cup ever :-), see website here: https://www.arts-de-fronze.fr Bazane design  Atelelier Benex, those jugs are amazing, when used outside, the air movement cool the water several degrees in the heat of the summer, an ancien low tech and efficient technique rediscovered […]

Fish market on Marseille’s « Vieux Port »

Which other can metropole boast an authentic fish market most mornings of the year, bang in the middle of town? We follow Jose Potier, epicurean, and owner of « Rhizome, Les racines du gout », a high end epicerie in glamorous Endoume.

Il tre stance, Firenze

This kind of place is simply unique and hard to describe, but suffice to say that we won’t look further when staying in Florence. The property is a palazzo, with immensely high ceilings, meters from the Duomo. The interior has been considerately refurbished, leaving the traces of original stucco and furnished with antique or vintage furniture:

Spring in Hyde Park

It’s rare enough to get Hyde park with this kind of light, that it did deserve a few shots Henry Moore’s « The Arch »  The serpentine Gallery       « Still Water », by Nic fiiddian-Green, at Marble Arch And one for the keen memories of when it first opened, the pirate boat of the Lady Di memorial

Docks de Marseille

Some views of the new Docks, once more renovated to allow for shops, cafes and restaurants to open up on the ground floor of this Marseille’s landmark. This time by 5+1 AA architect. The result is not as beautifully preserved as it was before (see here) but it is now able to receive public on a

Hong Kong Postcard

A long due postcard from Hong Kong…. or looking for the spirit of « In the mood for love », a constant travel in time that hits the most flamboyant modernity          Back home, our Christmas deco is shifting from Chile, to east of France and to the Far East :)…. Merry Christmas and

Berlin Design

Baerk (I know, strange name ain’it?) a mini concept store in mitte by Berlin designer Ilov Ilov, a few clever objects available on their website.

St Oberholtz Apartments, Berlin Mitte

Located above a hip internet cafe invaded by macbook users, our first try at airbnb is a large, tall and handsome flat. Restored keeping all architectural artefacts, which starkly contrast with the black and white deco and contemporary art. Right on buzzy Rosenthaler strasse, it really ticket all the right boxes.. We « lived like a

Titine

The story starts with an idea: refurbish a vintage caravan into a fun-loving bar/occasional extra bedroom for guests…… next thing we know, our friends Alain and Benedicte show up at our place with « Titine » at the back of the car/truck (but that’s another long story…) So here is Titine with Alain and Ben, before the

Alexander Mc Queen @ the V&A

Although no where close to being a fashionista, and looking a bit out of place amongst the most exuberant fashion crowd at this exhibition… But it was this years must see as I understood it from a friend who had been fascinated at the MET version back in 2011.. and didn’t shy away from seeing

Salon Cote Sud 2015

This year’s edition had a strong accept on craftsmanship as witnessed by the main exhibits by the pond: Glassbolwing:   Boqa, the company behind the Acapulco chair revival in France’s terraces Marius Fabre traditional « savon de Marseille » As this year was the 25th birthday of the magazine, there was an extensive collection of limited edition

Punta Arenas

I am just throwing a little post about Punta Arenas as a tip. Most travellers skip this town to go straight to Puerto Natales, the door to the Torres del Paine National Park. It is a shame because Punta Arenas has this frontier town feeling and looks that is definitely worth a little visit.

Brooklyn

The decoration media attention on Brooklyn has been so strong lately, that it has been impossible to escape the curiosity of discovering this new mecca. This how we ended one December sunday morning, crossing under the river to explore Brooklyn flea, just a as we religiously used to do 20 years ago on 6th avenue..

Salon Cote Sud 2014

The theme this year was « Toiles et Voiles » Although this scenography by Thomas Gentilini was kind of hidden at the back of the back of the garden… it is my favourite with it’s low tech gypsy feel, plenty of good ideas to gather for a summer camp in the garden at home!    The fabric

LX Factory

Like a good girl, I went through the Elle deco list of to-go places, starting with the uber buzzy LX factory, which ended up being partly closed on sunday, but happily had a flee market running all along the main street, to the happiness of my junk addict daughter, who follows (some) of her mothers’

Happy holidays!

This years Christmas is under the sign of the olive tree… A sofa from a brocante in Provence, olive branches from our garden, a frame from Santiago’s flea market and a Mapuche bread container all come happily together for celebration,  best wishes to you all!!!

Harrods

On  London trip, having fun playing to be a tourist… so here are the unmissable Harrods pictures, with windows obviously very much intended for their asian clients: celebrating the year of the dragon
