This collaborative project was initiated by Paola Cervoni, an art therapist. It groups various schools, social centres, art clubs, individuals and retirement homes around Marseille, and is intended to cover part of the « longest bench in the world ». It was initially approved by the town to cover over double of the present length but was inexplicably stopped by our lovely local politicians who now pretend to have it removed …. That would be outrageous as it is difficult to fault it. It’s pure artistic love-by-the-sea, and appart from linking people, it is also very attractive for this very under rated walk called the « corniche », a stunning promenade by the sea along Marseille’s gorgeous rocky seaside. It’s very busy with joggers, but much less so with tourists, probably because it is also a 4 lane mini-expressway without the slightest cycling path, but that’s another story…
So guess what? There’s an on-line petition to sign here to support the project, hope to convince you to sign it with those shots 🙂
