Manoussos Chalkiadakis

A beautiful discovery, in a perched village of Crete, the house and studio of Manousos Chalkiada. A fabulous ceramist, but also a painter and photographer. And such a nice, welcoming  person :)! Some shots of his studio:      And of course we couldn’t leave empty handed… The Cretan ceramics found their place with ease

Design Museum, London

The  has recently moved to it’s new venue and iconic 60’s landmark, the ex- Commonwealth Institute. Refurbished by John Pawson Himself, it is, unsurprisingly awesome..    A couple of shots from the free permanent exhibition. Clearly a must do while in London!

Rencontres photographiques d’Arles 2016

As usual, a special atmosphere in this charming town that open it’s door wide to all kinds of photography As in Avignon, the festival is now taking to the streets, the walls acting as galleries for the « off »  Western Camargais, Eglise des frères prêcheurs, retraces the Camargue-made westerns, well before the spaghettis westerns. Hotel Caumont, Aix-en-Provence

After an extensive restauration, the grand XVIIIe century Hotel Caumont, in Aix’s beautiful « quartier Mazarin » reopened last year. It offers two temporary exhibitions, the current is: « Turner et la couleur » and runs until September 18. Hotel Caumont, an « hotel particulier entre cour et jardin » epitomises XVIIIe century refinements, it’s restauration is amazing, see here: http://www.caumont-centredart.com/fr/dossiers/restauration-lhotel-caumont?galerie=1

Salon Cote Sud 2016: inspiration nature

With the Salon, finally comes the summer!!!  This year, the ethno-chic trends keeps flowing; the omnipresence of green in interior design is becoming overwhelming to my taste, but thankfully, blues (and indigo in particular) are « the new black ». I welcome the continuing development of hand made porcelain and ceramics by many young designers largely represented

St Oberholtz Apartments, Berlin Mitte

Located above a hip internet cafe invaded by macbook users, our first try at airbnb is a large, tall and handsome flat. Restored keeping all architectural artefacts, which starkly contrast with the black and white deco and contemporary art. Right on buzzy Rosenthaler strasse, it really ticket all the right boxes.. We « lived like a

ECAL @ Appartement 50, Citée radieuse

Although Jean-Marc Drut and Patrick Blauwart have obsessively restored this flat to its original state (see their website here), and are graciously opening it to the public on appointment; they don’t intend it to become a museum but a living project. Their clever approach to this challenge is to invite a designer to furbish it

Appartement 50, Citée Radieuse, Marseille

Thanks to Jean-Marc Drut and Patrick Blauwart, who bought and meticulously restored this well preserved « E1/inferieur/monofacade » apartment in the mythic Citee Radieuse; one can discover an apartment in its original state; a must for anyone with interest in architecture and Le Corbusier’s work.  I must here pay tribute to the owners  altruism, as not only

Puerto Natales

The gateway to Torres del Paine has a pretty good selection of hotels. We picked the Altiplanico because we had a great stay at the original one in San Pedro before. We where not disappointed by the Patagonia brother: nice ecofriendly architecture (with an interesting exterior insulation made with raw earth bricks), and home made feeling

NY Design

Searching interesting design shops to check out in NY I found this amazing website: http://bddw.com and it turns out that the shop is even more awesome, unfortunately so are the prices, but that’s quite easily understood, everything here is a one off piece, and it’s pretty clear that a lot of work, thought and expertise goes into
